I think it would be great if...

SACD

I think every legacy recordings release, whatever it may be, should be an SACD Hybrid. It's a shame how Sony have neglected their own wonderful format. Next year's the 10th anniversary coming up so it's about time Sony release som more pop/rock music on this format. Preferably multi-ch. SACD rules!

You are completely right. Once you have gone multichannel SACD there is no going back. It is crazy that in Japan SACDs are being released in stereo only, including Sony music, yet in the rest of the world there are many of us that want multichannel, yet we ask in vain, even though labels like Sony have great listening experiences in the vault which they could sell to us, they seem to be determined to miss out? Remastering old hits time and again on redbook cd and offering poor quality downloads just doesn't cut it and doesnt get me buying their music. Multichannel SACDs would!

I'm with you. Would love to see more multi-channel sacd's for sale. I've got a few thousand dollars burning a hole in my pocket now that I have a new Oppo player. Once you go SACD/DVD-Audio, there's no going back! Problem is, I came 10 years too late to the party. Somebody please make more multi-channel SACD's!!!!!!

I agree completely, it makes no sense that the music arm of Sony does not support the products developed on the electrical side, otherwise what is the point of a company like Sony owning a record label. It is really frustrating to know there is the technology that is out there and works and means we can listen to music in a much better quality than CD and in surround sound and yet Sony music is stuck in the 1980s with the CD. Hence I never buy any Sony label discs!

I believe only the Japan branch of Sony Music is still releasing SACD. Why doesn't the rest of Sony support its own format?

Now that Sony controls the RCA catalogue it would be nice to see SACDs directly from the 3 channel tapes of some of the Nashville late 50s and 60s material. Perhaps 30 track "best ofs" for Chet Atkins, Boots Randolph (including Monument recording of Yakkety Sax), Floyd Cramer, The Browns, John D Loudermilk (including Columbia recording of Tobacco Road), and some 30 track Various Artists compilations on the lines of the Nipper's Hits CDs.

I only buy SACDs and download in hi-rez formats. The great music we love is very important to us and we want it in the best-sounding format: SACD! Sony, please support the SACD format - that you invented - with your vast and excellent catalog of music.

I think it is interesting to see the number of votes for this suggestion, which I think Sony managers should look at and see that there is a significant number of people out there who want to support Sony and the SACD format. Why does Sony not do joined up thinking as a company? Sony developed SACD and yet its record labels don't support it? What a crazy world. Meanwhile great recordings sit in vaults whilst Sony pumps out old technology red book CDs in stereo. Let's move into the 21st century and give us multichannel hybrid SACds, which mean everyone is a winner. Perhaps Sony managers should look again at their policies and their judgement, which from a distance looks poor. I don't use my budget to buy any Sony recordings, spending it instead on those labels that release in SACD.

I have been growing my sacd collection, which is at about 30. We are limited in what is available though. I would like to see more R&B music on SACD. Prehaps RFTW (Ready For The World), New Edition, Keith Sweat, Run D.M.C. etc... Please produce more high quality sacd, Blu Ray music titles are great, but SACD is still far superior.

Classical: 1) Anything by Horowitz - CBS and RCA reissues, 80's era DG reissues (including Horowitz in Moscow) and especially Sony's The Last Recording, 2) Anything by Rubinstein - e.g. Finish the Chopin Collection, only did two (Ballades, Scherzos & Two Concertos)... RCA has issues the whole collection in past!, 3) Anything by Perahia - e.g. Released Volume II of Bach Keyboard Concertos in SACD, but first half only on CD... why? 4) Anything by Brendal - Complete Beethoven Sonatas or Mozart Concertos, 5) Anything by Arrau - Two 70's era Quadrophonic recordings released on SACD, more available? 6) Every recording made by Leif Ove Andsnes!

        1) Steely Dan Aja, Gaucho, etc. 2) Beatles 1, Entire Collection reissues, "Love", 3) Best of Doobie Brothers, 4) Pat Metheny Band reissues all great SACD candidates!

I want SACD Simon and Garfunkel in Multichannel

Especially the song Bridge Over Troubled Water
        in Multichannel 5.1 Surround

        The Voice of Garfunkel alone
in Center Channel must be very Special

And the sound of the piano of Larry Knechtel
only in Left and Right Channel - Front Speaker

I Want this SACD (Super Audio CD)
        Simon and Garfunkel Greatest Hits

I would love to hear the Joni Mitchell catalog on SACD. Elvis Costello. There are so many great artists, that unfortunately, have mediocre sounding CD's.

There is a poll for SHM-SACD's from Japan going on on CDjapan. Those, as I have heard, are practically flying off the virtual shelf and they are more than willing to produce more (Universal Japan). So why is Sony not jumping on the SACD wagon again? Kate Bush is currently way up there. They (Universal Japan) are releasing Rock/Pop Jazz and classical and even though they are pricy, some of them have sold out already. Well I guess Sony just does not want to make any money then? There is no market for SACDs so this is why the batches sold out within a couple of month.

Yes, Mr. Olson, those probably aren't but what about some others here, that are (Gloria is, Bob Dylan is and soooo many more? And how about Michael Jackson's albums nicely done in 5.1 in a SACD/DVD Package? Doesn't that sound tempting :-) Gooooooo Legacy!
